How the file compressor works
- Add your files. Drag a batch onto the dropzone or click to browse. Add as many as you like; the running total is shown as you go.
- Name your archive and pick a level. “Balanced” suits almost everything. “Maximum” squeezes documents harder but takes longer; “Fastest” is for when you’re in a hurry.
- Create the ZIP. Your browser compresses each file with JSZip and shows the original total versus the archive size.
- Download and share. A normal .zip file — opens in Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS with no special software.
What compresses well (and what doesn’t)
Text-heavy files are the stars: Word documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, CSVs and code often shrink 70–90%. Photos, videos and music are already compressed, so expect modest 2–10% savings there — that’s mathematics, not a flaw in the tool. “Store only” mode skips compression entirely and just bundles files, which is perfect for already-compressed media.
Private by architecture
Traditional online ZIP tools upload your files to somebody’s server, compress them, and hope you trust their deletion policy. DesignMode24 never receives your files at all — the bytes never leave your machine, so there’s nothing to leak, subpoena or “retain for analytics”. Confidential contracts and client deliverables stay confidential.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a file size limit?
Only your device’s memory. A few hundred megabytes is comfortable on a modern laptop; gigabyte-scale archives are better handled by desktop software.
Can I add folders?
Drag files in batches — most browsers let you drop a whole folder’s contents at once. Nested folder structure is flattened into the archive root.
Is the ZIP password-protected?
Not in this version — the focus is fast, free bundling. For sensitive archives, encrypt with your OS tools after downloading.
Does it cost anything?
No. Unlimited archives, no signup, no watermark.
